Ben likes rules – especially when it comes to Monopoly. Unfortunately, he has not yet figured out how to follow the rules at home. Miriam is hoping that there will be an improvement in this once they’re married.
Ben loves an adventure, this often includes exploring new countries and dragging Miriam up hills that she really doesn’t want to go up. However, they share the same joy for being in mountains. Having both learnt to ski at dry ski slopes in the UK, Ben and Miriam enjoy spending time in the snowy mountains during the winter with their friends and family. Ben believes that anything is possible if you try hard enough and acts as Miriam's cheerleader whenever she says "I can't do that!".
Ben enjoys spending his limited time at home winding Miriam up – something she’s learnt to deal with. Ben has done such a good job that Miriam now anticipates his snide comments and witty jokes, often getting to the punch line before he gets a chance.
Ben loves to get people involved in a ceilidh, so don't try to hide!

Miriam is one of the smallest individuals to ever exist. But it's true what they say, the best things do come in small packages. Very small packages.
A genuine and selfless person, Miriam gives everything she can do to those she loves and having now transitioned from Acute Medicine to Health Visiting, she now gets to care for people only just smaller than her.
An amazing skier, with a love for going downhills, and since meeting Ben she has shown all of her love by falling out with him on many uphill adventures. Despite this though, adventuring, exploring new places, and trying new activities is something that she really enjoys with passion and will give her everything to, every time, especially a ceilidh.
So look forward for your chance to launch her around the dancefloor!

About Ben and Miriam
Ben and Miriam got together in 2018 after being set up by their friend Sophie who happened to work with both of them. After finally deciding to go on a date together they have been almost inseperable (apart from all the nightshifts and weekends which Miriam has had to work, and the many weeks and months that Ben has spent away with work).
They've spent some of the last 5-and-a-bit years adventuring up hills (sometimes with much encouragement), down hill (sometimes with much gusto), and exploring new countries (sometimes with much drama).
Together they have a dog, Hector, who is one of the goodest boys to have ever existed. He enjoys taking his pawrents on nice long double-u ayy ell kays, going for swims, and napping.
They got engaged in 2022 and will be getting married on their 6 year anniversary, resetting the clock to zero as Mr & Mrs Haworth and continuing on their many adventures.

Travel Information
There is plenty parking available at the venue, the postcode for satnavs is EH30 9RW and then follow the signs which will take you to the main gate.
Please park in the main car park (300m from the entrance). If you require to drop a member of your party off closer to the venue, that's no problem but please then ensure your car is parked in the main car park.
Cars can be left overnight but need to be retrieved by 10am.

The nearest major train station is Edinburgh Waverley. Local services to South Queensferry run to Dalmeny Train Station. A taxi would then be required to get you to Hopetoun House.
If you're staying at a hotel nearby then we're more than happy to put you in touch with other people staying at the same place so that you can share a taxi, just let us know where. We recommend prebooking your taxis for the end of the night, as local services are likely to be limited.

Edinburgh Airport is 15 minutes away from South Queensferry (25 minutes from Hopetoun House). Taxis and car hire are widely available at the airport. Bus and tram services are also available from the airport.
